Backfilling Requirements for Borings

Bentonite-cement mixture grout placed from bottom up to ground surface. Must be tremied when falls are greater than 20 feet, unless otherwise approved by LUFT.

Backfilling Requirements for Monitoring Wells

Bentonite-cement mixture grout placed from bottom up to ground surface. Must be tremied when falls are greater than 20 feet, unless otherwise approved by LUFT. Abandonment Required. Well to be completely removed prior to back filling.

Information

1. Please contact GDT for a copy of the "Leaking Underground Fuel Tank" (LUFT) Assessment and Remediation Guidance Document.
2. The cities of Santa Barbara and Santa Maria issue their well permits for wells drilled within their city limits. LUFT sites in Santa Maria are usually not required to get permits by the city. Santa Maria looks to EHS to oversee the cleanup of these sites.
