Cone Penetration Testing Equipment
Gregg Drilling & Testing, Inc. maintains a fleet of specially designed cone penetration vehicles complete with advanced computer monitoring and data reporting systems. The large trucks provide comfortable working space for operators, geologists, and engineers. A stainless steel interior provides efficient laboratory space for collecting environmental soil and groundwater samples and decontaminating equipment. The air-conditioned/heated working space includes two computer screens and a printer to quickly view and produce data on-site. The trucks are also equipped with cameras under the carriage to aid the driver in positioning the truck exactly in the specified position.  Gregg has also aided in the design of specialty probes and samplers that can be deployed with the CPT to obtain additional data pertinent to geotechnical and environmental investigations. A popular module in earthquake prone areas is the seismic cone that can be used to measure shear-wave velocity in the subsurface. Another probe with more environmental applications is the Ultra-violet Optical Screening Tool (UVOST). This module is used to collect in-situ measurements of hydrocarbons present in soil and groundwater.
