MARINE PLATFORMS

SMALL BARGES

Gregg Drilling operates a number of small boats and barges specifically designed to work in reservoirs, lakes, wetlands, and harbors of varying water depths. These barges usually require a crane, but can often use a boat ramp to enter the water.

Smaller drill rigs fit easily on these barges to make them lightweight and portable, with enough room for soil sampling and core storage.

For shallow sediment sampling, Gregg often employs a vibrocore system to collect continuous sediment samples up to 6 meters. Gregg also offers a gravity core system capable of obtaining cores up to 2 meters in soft sediments.

Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) in shallow water environments can often be easily accomplished using a drill rig. This allows one barge to complete a sampling and testing program without the need for additional equipment.

jack up barge

A jack-up boat can be used for over water investigations to eliminate the need for a separate tug boat.

spud barge

A crane can be used to lower a small drill rig onto a compact supd barge for drilling in a lake.

barge

A small floating barge can be used for drilling and sediment sampling.
