Gregg uses a Pile Driving Analyzer® (PDA) system to conduct SPT energy calibration. An instrumented section of NWJ or AWJ rod measures strain and acceleration with each hammer blow. The PDA can then calculate the amount of energy transferred to the rod by the force-velocity approach. Different rigs, hammers, operators, and site conditions can cause wide variations in energy transfer. Therefore, it is important to conduct SPT energy measurements on each project. From the data obtained, it is possible to adjust the observed N value to a normalized N60 for standard 60% energy transfer into the rods. All equipment and analysis conform to ASTM D6066.
Conforms to International Standards and ASTM D4945
