| |  | SPT ENERGY CALIBRATION SERVICES Gregg uses a Pile Driving Analyzer® (PDA) system to conduct SPT energy calibration. An instrumented section of NWJ or AWJ rod measures strain and acceleration with each hammer blow. The PDA can then calculate the amount of energy transferred to the rod by the force-velocity approach. Different rigs, hammers, operators, and site conditions can cause wide variations in energy transfer. Therefore, it is important to conduct SPT energy measurements on each project. From the data obtained, it is possible to adjust the observed N value to a normalized N60 for standard 60% energy transfer into the rods. | | DYNAMIC PILE TESTING SERVICES Gregg performs dynamic pile monitoring using the pile driving analyzer’s computer based data acquisition system. The software is based on the theory of stress wave propagation in piles, also known as the Case Method of pile testing. Accelerometers and strain gauges on the pile acquire wave data after the impact of a hammer or drop weight. The data is interpreted by the PDA and reduced by Gregg’s trained professionals to aid in the design of pile-supported structures. |
