Offshore Wind HDD & Cable Route Survey, Delaware

Sealaska Woocheen Marine Services is currently investigating a number of potential cable routes for HDD installation from a planned offshore wind farm to an onshore substation location. The geotechnical design of the cable routes requires 4 deep boreholes and CPTs to 45m depth in two potential locations. In addition, along the cable route, 20 CPTs and vibrocore samples to 6m are also required. Gregg has teamed with Alpine Ocean, the lift boat and vibrocore provider to mobilize our Mobile B-80 drill rig and portable Cone Penetration Testing system to the East coast for this project.

Highlights

  • Extensive project management connecting all team members between Gregg Drilling, Alpine Ocean, contracted on-site geotechnical engineer and client.
  • Cross-country mobilization
  • Difficult drilling conditions involving dense sands and gravels requiring multiple drill-outs and innovative solutions and equipment
  • Water depths up to 40ft
