Stockton Potassium Permanganate Injection

Gregg Drilling completed a challenging injection project in September of 2022 for Geosyntec Consultants in Stockton, CA. The project required injection of over 500,000 gallons of potassium permanganate solution at rates up to 83 gallons per minute. Comparatively, standard injection rates range from 20-25 gpm. Up to 10 points were simultaneously injected and Gregg’s new injection platform with dual pumps was utilized to achieve these high injection rates.

Highlights:

• Night work for half the project
• Day work in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees F
• Mixing and pumping at over 3x the standard rates
• Contract value $370k

Challenges & Benefits:

• Increased security required on-site due to external incident
• Water hydrant unable to meet water demand, auxiliary pump on rig run in tandem to achieve high flow rates
• Reduced project time by 3-5 weeks due to maximized flow & injection rates creating major cost savings for the client
